UK Version
Using DK yarn and a 3.5mm hook.
Starting ideally with a magic loop (otherwise a 4ch circle) and working in a spiral.
Start: 1ch, 6dc into loop. [6dcs ] Do not join.
Row 1: 2dcs into each dc. [12dcs]
Row 2: Repeat (1dc into first stitch, 2dc into next) six times. [18sts] Stop here for a small egg and go to ‘Middle rows’.
Row 3: Repeat (1dc into each of first two stitches, 2dc into next) six times. [24sts] Stop here for medium egg and go to ‘Middle rows’.
Row 4: Repeat (1dc into each of first three stitches, 2dc into next) six times. [30sts] This should make a large real egg size egg.
Middle rows: Now work 1dc into each dc for the next few rounds as shown below.
5 rounds for a small egg, 6 rounds for a medium egg, or 7 rows rounds for a large egg
before decreasing three times every row. I hope you can see the pattern here if you want to make even bigger ones!
Large Egg – continue here
Next row: Repeat (1dc into each of first 7 dcs, 2dctog, 1dcinto next dc.) three times. [27sts]
Next row: Repeat (1dc into each of first 6dcs, 2dctog, 1dcinto next dc.) three times. [24sts]
Medium egg – continue here
Next row: Repeat (1dc into each of first 5 dcs, 2dctog, 1dcinto next dc.) three times. [21sts]
Next row: Repeat (1dc into each of first 4dcs, 2dctog, 1dcinto next dc.) three times. [18sts]
Small egg- continue here
Next row: Repeat (1dc into each of first 3 dcs, 2dctog, 1dcinto next dc.) three times. [15sts]
Next row: Repeat (1dc into each of first 2dcs, 2dctog, 1dcinto next dc.) three times. [12sts]
Last Row (all eggs): 2dctog six times. [6sts]
Start stuffing about halfway through the decreases. I found I normally pushed a last bit of stuffing through the final hole with the end of my crochet hook.
Draw remaining thread through stitches and fasten off.

With reference to the pictures below –
I increased up to 36 stitches for the creamy egg made in #10 crochet cotton with appropriate sized hook and up to 42 stitches for the pastel rainbow egg made in #20 crochet cotton. Increasing the number of middle rows to 8 and 9 respectively.
