Usually when I share my pictures with you I create a normal post interleaving the photogaphs with a narrative. This time I am trying out the new gallery format as an alternative.
I would be interested in any comments you have as to whether you prefer this way of doing it.

They have recently put up this sign at the entrance to the Common.
The ground is very waterlogged but then the Common is valued for it’s water meadows. The building in the background is “The Cowherd’s” pub, so named because long ago the cowherd used to live there.
It is three o’clock but already the sun is low in the sky. Young men are playing football and getting very muddy.
The sky is a deep blue with soft clouds. Could this be a flying dragon?
The rhododendron at the entrance to the common is already in flower.
There is gorse glowing in the sunlight
and a solitary daisy in the grass.
The catkins are beginning to grow. Spring is coming.
I noticed a piece of lichen that had dropped in the mud
and I found this tree covered with funghi.
Of course I can never resist running water, either in the drainage ditches,
or running across the grass,
or a swan,
or arty picture of the lake.
This moorhen scooted away as soon as I tried to photograph it.
But all good things come to an end and now it is time to go home.
